Ronna Ayscue was the
Principal Flutist of the Haddonfield Symphony before joining the
Bay-Atlantic Symphony. Ms.Ayscue was accepted at The Juilliard
School of Music but chose to attend the Philadelphia Musical
Academy. Her teachers include John Wummer and Julius Baker, both
principal flutes with The New York Philharmonic; Murray Panitz,
principal with The Philadelphia Orchestra; Ardelle Bowers, the
first woman flutist at the Curtis Institute of Philadelphia; and
Claire Polin, flutist and composer.
She has performed in
master classes for the famous flutists Jean-Pierre Rampal and
William Bennett. She studied Baroque performance practices with
the renowned musical scholar and harpsichordist Igor Kipnis. In
1999 she and Mr. Kipnis, assisted by viola da gamba player Vivian
Barton, performed in Philadelphia to a sold-out audience.
Ms.Ayscue has performed twice with the Amerita Chamber Players,
composed of top strings of the Philadelphia Orchestra. She was the
solo flutist with the Musica Sacra Chamber Orchestra, performing
Bach cantatas and oratorios. For many years she has given concerts
with Philadelphia harpsichordist Elizabeth Boggs. In 2005, along
with flutist Adeline Tomasone and pianist Davyd Booth, she
presented a benefit concert to aid pets displaced by Hurricane
Katrina. Mr. Booth, who is also a violinist with the Philadelphia
Orchestra, has given many concerts with Ms. Ayscue as well. |
